Compassion

Compassion for man…

…where has it gone, and why has gone the way of the dodo? My wife is telling me of a story of a man she heard screaming from her office window. Apparently the screaming continued for 5 minutes, after which, she looks out of the window to see a man on the ground surrounded by paramedics and police! This man was screaming (for help or otherwise) for five minutes…my wife heard from her 5th floor office window, yet people on the street level walked right past the guy and didn’t pay attention to him.

What has happened that we won’t even stop to see the issues with our fellow man? Have we as a society become so self-absorbed and jaded that we’ll walk right past a man on the street who’s in some sort of distress, and we won’t even stop to attempt to see if the person is ok?

This bothered me after my wife gave me the story, so tonight this is what I will meditate on. How can I be better towards my fellow man? Find a way to donate and give more passion and understanding to a world that desperately needs it!

Me

I love being different. In this day and age…while I’m overextended and hardly treading water..I have creativity, art and originality in spades!

I love to write, even when I don’t do it nearly enough, making music, something about a walking bass line just sends chills down my spine!

However with all this wealth, others try to steal that from me, by judging everything on my color and ethnicity!

I refuse to apologize for loving P-Funk as much as Slayer…I enjoy music, I enjoy a good movie…I’ll quote Smokey & the Bandit and Menace 2 Society!

I may talk of this topic frequently, mainly due to the fact that I constantly deal with it…damn near on a daily basis.

Most look at negative media and stereotypes to try to paint this picture of me, I just don’t like the paint they’re trying to use!

Instead of fucking with me, how about adding flavors and colors to your palette! In my world, vanilla just doesn’t cut it!

This world is too damn big to comfortably wear a label that does me no justice, that’s Kool-Aid Mr. Jones that I refuse to drink!

So, I’ll continue my life of bold sounds and vivid Technicolor, while you drink your daily dose of ignorance, it does your body good!

….and hopefully God willing when I get old, I’ll be able to transcend this bullshit and hopefully I’ll teach my son that your color doesn’t define you, but your heart and actions will! PRAY/LIVE/LOVE like it all ends tomorrow!
